Life at Zawiyah

Zawiyah is an independent supplementary school based in Harrow. We are a vibrant and focused school, dedicated to providing quality education to our pupils. Our commitment to the spiritual and moral well being of pupils features throughout the many areas of our school. We believe quality, individual-centred education with correct tarbiyah (upbringing) equips our pupils to be exemplary citizens, committed to the true Islamic values of compassion, lifelong-learning, tolerance and making positive contributions to society at large.

Zawiyah’s mission is to provide a vibrant Sunday school allowing children and young adults to develop sound knowledge, good morals and a love of Islam. This is combined with equipping them with learning and life skills to support them with mainstream education and modern life

Zawiyah offers free GCSE maths classes to any students studying to take GCSE Maths in Years 10 and 11.

We deliver teaching in accordance with an authentic and structured syllabus; teachers are experienced, knowledgeable and DBS checked. We also provide regular feedback to allow students to measure their progress and achieve their potential.

The NRCSE Quality Mark builds on successful adherence to safeguarding standards. Quality assured schools are visited and teaching is observed by a registered Quality Mark mentor; evidence of the learning environment, teaching and financial management are presented for external scrutiny by educational and governance experts.
As part of the continuous improvement at Zawiyah, the teaching staff have completed Youth Mental Health First Aid training. This internationally recognised qualification will allow us at Zawiyah to further service community needs, and at a time where mental health is a growing problem.

Recognition Award

The London Faith & Belief Community Awards 2021 has selected Zawiyah as a Recognised Project from amongst 1000s of projects. The Judging Panel commended the following aspects of our work:

  • The focus on developing life skills and building confidence – especially the focus on improving mental and physical health
  • The affordable and accessible nature of our classes
